Neighborhood Watch Alert

May 7, 2008

Another neighbor has reported a theft occurring on the same night as the bird bath was stolen. We can assume it was the same thief, a young male, blond hair driving a black or dark colored mustang. A young man fitting the description and driving a black mustang was seen a few days later driving past Pleasant Grove Rd towards Springfield. This may be a high school student who either attends school here in White House or in Springfield. Someone knows him. If you have any information on this person or if you see any suspicious activity, no matter how trivial it seems, please contact the police right away at 672-4903. Two police reports have been filed that we know of. If you are also a victim of this thief, please contact the police and file a report.

"I also I had a potted plant (A $80 value) sitting on the outside of my garage that went missing that very night.  I am on East Winterberry Trail.  At the time, I was extremely frustrated to learn that it was missing as I had just spent 4 or more hours shopping for and putting it together that very night.  In fact, it was set out at about 6:30 that night." I too would not be interested in pressing charges; I would just like my property back."

On Wednesday night at approximately 12:45 a.m. a very heavy concrete bird bath was stolen from my yard by a young man with blond hair driving a black or dark color mustang. While the bird bath has no monetary value, it was well over 30 years old and belonged to my mother. It was something I treasured and it cannot be replaced. Since nothing else was missing from my yard or any of my neighbors, the theory is it was stolen by someone perhaps participating in a scavenger hunt.

Parents, please ask your teens if they know of anyone fitting this description. I am not interested in pressing charges, I just want the bird bath returned. It has a very distinctive base; a squirrel is carved into the base and appears to be climbing up the trunk of a tree. The bird bath has been painted white and the paint is coming off in places revealing the original gray color.

In the photo here, the squirrel in the bowl is not part of the bath. Click on photo for larger view.
